Thanks for the offer Aaron, but the file is huge it's 2 hours long it's was a full 8mm tape. I installed Windows tonight and I'll usi ATI to convert the file to an Mpg. It only puts out two types VCR and mpg. I can convert with supposedly no compression so there will be little loss. Tomorrow I'll reinstall ubuntu I thought i'd use fiesty but I think there may be a problem with it and cinelerra or at least I believe I read that in a couple posts on line. Guess I'll use a dual boot system for a while untill I'm sure I don't need XP for anything. Thanks Doug ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aaron Newcomb" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

If the file is small enough you can provide a link and I will try to convert it.

It is a old propriatary mjpeg format created by http://www.com1.fr/
Firefox can read them but I don't know how to convert them. :-(

Doug, do you know that we have our own "google":
http://www.google.com/linux
Always look there first for answers.

Sylvain.
