If you are not doing anything else to the video consider using avidemux
instead. It may perform a little bit faster for you. Cinelerra is
great for
editing together video and inter cutting scenes, etc. but I find it a
bit to heavy to use just to cut pieces out. Mostly due to slow playback
while trying to find the right spots (I'm on a 1.7GHz athalon with 768
MB ram).
