Hi Everyone,
I have created 5 half hour DVDs with Cinelerra and they look
beautiful. Except for one thing: the video pauses or stutters (replays
the last few frames) at some of the chapter boundaries.

In Cinelerra, I insert labels to mark my chapters. Shows typically
have 5 or 6 chapters, and the chapters allows me to tweak and re-render
my introduction or credits without re-rendering the whole show. Next I
mplex together the AC3s and M2Vs into MPGs, and then use Q-DVDAuthor to
build the DVD filesystem. It's in the DVD filesystem that the flaws
appear. I tried moving the labels and used different muxers, but I
always get the same flaws in the same places. Not between all chapters,
though.

Different players show the flaws differently: vlc freezes the frame
while the audio plays, totem and xine stutter the video, and my Sony DVD
player freezes both the audio and video. Duration is about 1/3 second.
Unfortunately mplayer, which provides the most verbose output, shows no
flaw at all!

Bitrate: I use mplex 1.8.0 and 1.9.0 with no options, and I believe
the bitrate is near 10 Mbps. I also tried ffmpeg with it's "ntsc-dvd"
setting, and it produced a bitrate of about 6.6 Mbps. Same result from each.

  This e-mail:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/[EMAIL PROTECTED]&forum_name=dvdauthor-users
was the closest thing I found to describing my problem, and it doesn't
offer much hope because the latest dvdauthor author does not indicate
discontinuity. However, mplex verbose output appears to indicate the
lengths of the audio and video streams, so I mplex'ed again to
compensate for the difference. The largest offset was less than 70 msec,
and it produced the same result as before.

Because the duration is so large, I wonder if it's related to the
GOPs? In any case, I don't know of any tools to investigate this or what
to look for.

The material is a talent show for kids. Everything is live-to-tape and
high energy, and there are no convenient fade-to-black transitions where
I can hide the flaws. (A few clips available here:

Has anyone seen this problem before? And solved it?

Thanks,
Craig.
