By the way, IL'dar, I saw that movie you made about your father, it was very smart. Have you done the subtitles yet? I've just finished another one, the rehearsal #07 - it's also mute, but has some improvements in image manipulation that begun in rehearsal #06 (both at http://qazav.wordpress.com ).
Back to audio: yesterday I've rendered a separate .qt (codec dv) and .wav (with 6 channels) and joined them with ffmpeg (m2v + ac3). FFMPEG recognized my special option (-ac 6) and output a "ac3, 5:1" audio for the dvd. When I played the wav in totem, for exemple, it recognized it as a 6 channel input also. So it seems like cin actually does render a proper 6 channel output even though I couldn't monitor them while editing...
