Hi ZF,
  Although title effect has limited style options, if it is all you
need, you can apply the effect to nothing in a video track reserved for
your text. Use in/out points to establish the time span.

  If it doesn't work with your Cinelerra, then maybe you have an older
version than mine (I do not know when the feature was added). In this
case you need a black image and Cinelerra will not make it for you. Get
your frame dimensions from Settings > Format and create a black PNG in
Gimp. Then create a new video track, import the black PNG, paste into
track, and stretch to full length of project.

  Use either fader or mute controls to switch between your movie and
text track.
