Well, as already mentioned I have 70+ Hi8 tapes to convert to DV and
backup, next edit some special happenings and extract some family
memories for DVD authoring. For me I guess this will be a relative time
consuming project. Next I will continue with my newer HDV tapes..

Beside digitizing, editing and archieving purposes, I think DN-300 also
can be utilized nearly like a traditional hard disk recorder. It hasn't
any built-in (HD)TV tuner, but it should be possible to connect for
recording from S-video out on analog TVs. However, my soon coming Sony
Bravia KDL-40X3500 HDTV doesn't feature S-video out (just S-video IN),
but as it has a SCART out, a SCART/S-video adapter should make it. As
for other DVD recorders connected to SCART out, I think this will be
limited to recording from the analog TV tuner and resolution(?)
