can confirm that. Quicktime has the "pasp" atom for that purpose, but
cinelerra doesn't write it, even if the source has it set.
Can you file a bug on that, with small examples? Pretty please :-)
It's no bug, it's a missing feature:
~/Software/hvirtual/quicktime$ grep pasp *
~/Software/hvirtual/quicktime$
Handling this properly might require huge changes in the cinelerra
architecture.
I wrote pretty reliable PAR r/w support for libquicktime
(functions lqt_[get|get]_pixel_aspect()). It supports multiple ways to
store PAR (via the pasp atom in the Quicktime container and at codec
level for MPEG4 and H.264).
Many Applications however (including Apple Quicktime) still show the
movie squeezed. Seems they ignore the pasp for highly compressed codecs.
