Thank you all for the tip and suggestions about actual tools and
tutorials, which I certainly have to study closer, when I come closer to
this part of the post process.

To correct myself about a still slide show, I remember I several years
ago already recorded on my camcorder all those old photos and more using
closeup lense, zoom, pan and fade out. What I have to do is to edit also
this video, shorten each clip and fade out, possible apply dissolve
effect between each photo. Therefore this indeed become a video in video
instead.

Does this have some effects with regards to the already posted suggestions?

Yes. You could use the "translate" video effect.
make two time lines one for the main video (background with the
speaker)
and one with the slide show, (below it)
add translate effect to the first one and adjust so that the speaker is
to shifted.
add translate to the second one and project it in a corner of your
choice.

I suggest first using only the background time line and when you are
happy with the translate effect, add the second time line with the
slide show and do the work there.

yes, Cinelerra certainly has the tools to do so.. For the positioning of
your clips, see

... I think something like this is the effect you want to achieve. To zoom
your images, you can either use the scale effect or the Z component of the
projector resp. camera.

I use this method (keyframes with camera/projector) as well. I think I
have an example of this in one of my video tutorials, but you can
certainly see the effect in my last episode when I talked with Bassam
Kurdali about Elephant's Dream. You can also see it in my ZFS
interview and in most of my credits.

I wish to stimulate up a color video scene by putting in a black and white still slide show inside the vidoe like a PiP. The original video scene contains halph and hour of a relative statical motive, a speacher memorizing about "good old days". Possibly by adjusting (decreasing) or moving the speacher a little sideways from the center, there will be enough room to put in a slideshow covering ca. 1/4-1/3 of the display size, like a picture in picture.

Does Cinelerra feature the tools neccessary to compose something like this, and preferably some hints or references how to manage this task.
