Commercial software vendors need this to make people think, they buy
something special. For a non-commercial project, the only advantage I see,
is that it's easier to google for "Gutsy" than for "7.10".
We don't compete with software companies (at least not economically) so
IMO it's not necessary to copy all that marketing nonsense.

 Fine, I hope it won't bother you much that others here consider it
important.  It's a bit analogous to the GUI debate.  Leave it to those
who care, and be happy. :-)
