What I don't understand is why there are two tracks called "video1" and "audio1" where the one contains the clip and the other not? At home and at work I've got different labellings of the tracks. Is that a bug or a feature?

 What happens then is that Cinelerra displays a canvas of 1920x1080
pixels to fit an 16:9 display aspect ratio.  The 1440x1080 image
is placed within that, as shown in the picture.

 You need to set the project resolution to 1440x1080, and the
aspect ratio to 16:9.  Then the 1080i HDV should be displayed
correctly.
