Any advice on how to disable XCB in Ubuntu 8.04. It seems everyone who
uses
this distro can no longer use Cinelerra. I've tried installing it on 2
different PCs running the new Ubuntu, and both fail with the exact same
behavior as described in this bug.
Ouch! XCB is poised to be the successor of Xlib, right? This bug was
opened
one and a half year ago, which I considered an early warning. When Ubuntu
has
adopted XCB, it gets painful to work around it.
Are we confident that this bug belongs with XCB? Even if it does, it may
be
something that affects only marginal applications (yes, in the big scheme
of
things, Cinelerra is quite marginal). We may not want to endure the
suffering
of waiting this out.
Can someone try to analyse this a little further, to find points in
Cinelerra's execution which trigger this phenomenon?
Do the xorg patches mentioned here fix it?
