           Summary: Take selection
           Product: Cinelerra
           Version: 2.1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: Medium
         Component: User Interface
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you have 10 takes of a scene, you should be able to insert them all at the
same place in the timeline and have a menu to select the take to use. A
comment field next to each take in the selection allows you to record notes
about the merits of each take so you don't need to bother reviewing the
crappier ones in most cases. Each take has separate in/out points in the
original material. When you change the take, the timeline stretches or
shrinks appropriately (as happens with some cut/paste/drag/drop operations0.
Thus you have a single video clip or plugin appear in the timeline but you can
pop up a menu of the different takes

another alternative is the non-linear timeline (see previous report), though
this is possibly a useful alternative to the non-linear timeline though it can
share some code and may be simpler to implement in the short term. This could
be implemented as a realtime plugin (with ability to update thumbnail images on
track).

Reproducible: Always
