Summary: If using ALSA sound output, when timeline playback is
stopped, the cursor continues to go right
Product: Cinelerra
Version: 2.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Medium
Component: Sound Playback
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
When using ALSA as sound output device, when playback is stopped (no matter if
by SPACE or via the UI buttons) the cursor continues to wander right. The
playback (audio and video) stops, though. This is true for the Program, Viewer
and Compositor.
The window where the playback was originally started is still responsive, so
clicking on menus makes them appear, when clicking buttons, they are pressed
visibly. But the stop button and skip frame-by-frame buttons have no effect.
BUT: the buttons "jump to first/last frame" freeze the window when clicked, as
do the POS1/END keys. Again, this is true for the Viewer as well as for the
Program/Compositor windows.
The Program/Compositor show the following behaviour: When one of them is
already frozen by doing the jump to last/first frame action as described above,
the buttons in the other of the two windows are still responsive, only the
navigation buttons/keybindings have no effect. Except for the jump to
first/last buttons and keys. They freeze that window, too. So both of
Program/Compositor freeze independently. The cursor continues to wander in both
of them, as if playback were still going on, but video and audio are already on
halt.
Now with Program/Compositor frozen, it is still possible to start playback of
Media or Clips in the Viewer, but on playback stop, it behaves as stated above:
cursor continues, freeze on jump to first/last frame.
The Resources window stay responsive all the way through.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. under Settings -> Preferences... -> Playback : set Audio Driver to ALSA
2. start playback of a clip in the Viewer or Composer or Program window
3. stop playback with SPACE or stop button (see the cursor continue)
4. jump to first/last frame via POS1/END or the corresponding button (see the
window where the jump was issued freeze)
5. if you did 2.-4. in one of Program or Compositor window: continue with 3. in
the corresponding other window, else continue with 2. in one of the remaining
playback oriented windows
Actual Results:
The playback commands (stop, skip frame-by-frame) show no effect, jump to
first/last frame doesn't do the jump
Expected Results:
The playback commands should work, jump to first/last frame should jump to
first/last frame
