would like to add my voice to support the apparent consensus that imovie-type of nles should not be the primary inspiration while designing the workflow of lumiera, but i also second the emotion that any optional simplification should be a great addition. also it is true that storyboard view is not confined to hobbyist apps. like mentioned it features prominently in nles like smoke.

better! I am for example interested in using a more "Nodal" type approach
such as employed by the Smoke or Flint workflow. As long as it's an

just curious do you mean "nodal" as in "rooms", "areas" and "modal operation" or nodal as in shake, pd, quartz composer and flame? if the latter, it has been mentioned here a few times but i struggle to see the advantage of that in editing besides of filters and effects.

if you are referring to "modal operation" i would like to add that i would passionately support this as a principle for the workflow and gui design. i have been told that such a paradigm is considered to be a no no in general gui design, and it is true that it makes it a for a steeper learning curve but personally i think that is not a problem. as we are talking about an app that is intended as professional, one assumes that it means that people are meant to be using it all day long every working day. thats a lot of days. so a little more effort in the beginning for a much more efficient and comfortable existence for the rest of days sounds like a good bargain to me.

but as the project is still in the stage that everything is thoeretically possible then i would like to make a wish that one day the app would be based on the modes of which one would be an imoviesque mode!

although if these modes would be used then perhaps another word should perhaps be decided upon.

best,
