------- Comment #30 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-05-25 10:12 +2 -------
Using Slackware 12.0 , Kernel 2.6.25.1, glibc 2.5 ....

I have just downloaded and built, via SVN, the latest repository from the svn
server. After further downloading some "missing" libraries I got a good
compile.

In trying to run, the GUI opened a number of windoes, including the "Tips".
Closed the "Tips", and the GUI is dead!. No CPU time being used, other programs
all fine.

Tried "gdb cinelerra". This time it opened, reported the shortage of shared
memory, and from here on the GUI seemed to work fine.

Upped the shmmax. Program is now consistent - it works under gdb, but hangs if
started directly.

My software experience tells me that this is typical of using an un-initialised
variable - a side effect of GDB is that such un-initialised variables get set
to 0.

Regards
=Pat
