Cinelerra stable? That would be a first.
Although it is a powerful package, it is not for those who want also a
stable product.
The original product is even more worse and I can't understand that
people want to work with it at all. Luckily, on the far horizon there
will be Lumiere and this time hopefully without the contribution of the
original HV authors. If Lumiere is functional equal to Cinelerra-CV but
at least stable, that by it self would be a great step forwards.

it is because i managed to convince my girlfriend to switch from

thats why i am trying to get cinelerra running on my machine first, in
order to being able to install later on hers.
Hello Dragan,
Cinelerra performs quite "stable", if you manage to get it setup and /
or build and if you learn what to do and what better not to try. Plus
there is no help within the GUI, so basically it's supposed the user
knows already how to use a Nonlinear Video Editor. Having said that, you
can do quite advanced stuff with Cinelerra, it's incredible powerful.
Currently, there is not any single Application for video editing on
linux which we could call "the definitive video editor" -- there is
no Gimp for video :-)
But the situation got much better than some years ago. To start with,
you could try out the Open Movie Editor, Kino, PiTiVi, ... (what else?)
http://www.openmovieeditor.org/
http://www.kinodv.org/
http://www.pitivi.org/wiki/Main_Page
thanks, i ll have a look into the last one, which i don't know.
another one i do know is:
http://lives.sourceforge.net
for me it is great because it has a very good jack support.
and since i do not do that much video stuff, it is ok for me to simply
cut some video file or simular.
cheers,
doc
what is about 'lumiere' project? is there any web page where i could
have a look of what is the status of developement now?
Our goal for Lumiera is to start out with the level of functionality
and power we all know and love at Cinelerra. The goal is not to create
quickly something usable for basic stuff and then to evolve it by time
to eventually reach Cinelerra's level of sophistication in the far
future. For us, Cinelerra contains a wealth of know-how and experiences
(good and bad ones) we build upon.
Lumiera is in the early stages of development and it's obvious we can't
expect anything of interest for an end user this year at least. Come
back next year and have a look if we did achieve anything ;-)
The homepage is at Lumiera.org
Cheers,
