I have a problem with my stop buttons: whenever I use them they cause
the window they're clicked in to lock up and become mostly
unresponsive!

Here's what I do:
1) Start cinelerra (built from git today, and also 5 months ago, both
have same problem)
2) Load a clip or music file, drag it into the timeline
3) Press play button
4) Press stop button (here in some cases the timeline continues to animate
a playback, in others it stops)
5) Press Rewind-to-start button (or whatever) : no reaction.

In the timeline I also can't take any mouse action on the timeline
itself, though I can sometimes toggle the "Play Track" on individual
chanells. Other windows remain mostly responsive.

When I do similar things in the Viewer window, that window locks up in
a similar way, but other windows remain responsive.

When I do similar things in the Compositor window, that window locks
up in a similar way, and it takes down the Timeline window too.

My old build didn't used to work this way, but started behaving that
way in the last couple months. Possibly some Debian backports
multimedia lib changed under its feet, but on the other thand the
version built today fares no better.

Any ideas?
