I got Cinerella installed in Kubuntu 8.04 OK.  (I had tried it several months
ago, and couldn't get it to work). I am a complete novice when it comes to this
software, so please bear with me if I have just done something wrong because I
don't understand the program well enough.

With a bit of fooling around, I think I was able to do load some video and do
some simple editing (just cutting out a few pieces).  I did have a problem in
loading video.  I first tried to load the video from a DVD, but it crashed
right away. I suspect that it was trying to write the .toc file to the DVD -- I
don't know how to change where it should be written, or if you can do so.

So, I copied the .VOB files to the hard drive, changed the names to .mpg and
loaded one of the files.  I think I was able to do a bit of editing.

Then, I assume the next step is to "Render".  I chose "Windows AVI" because I
did not see anything else really appropriate. For example, I could see MPEG
Video and MPEG Audio, but I could not see any MPEG Audio and Video. Maybe I am
missing something here. Anyway, after all my efforts, it went through the
rendering (took a while), then instead of saving the results, it just died.

This is what it did every time I tried it several months ago, and finally gave
up.

Am I doing something wrong?  Obviously, some people are using it successfully.
It appears to be a potentially very useful program. But if I cannot save the
results of my editing efforts, it isn't useful to me.

HELP!

Thanks.
