It sounds like the mac did not have the correct video decoder try to render or use ffmpeg or winff to convert this to one of the ipod preset formats and see it that works.
I usually stay with raw.dv in cinelerra, render to that and then use winff / ffmpeg to transcode to the end format as needed.
