Hello, I'm trying to help one of my Linux users with a rather frustrating problem: Basically, Cinelerra handles keyframes just fine during preview, but behaves erratically when rendering. E.g. a fade-in from a particular track works fine in the preview, but in the rendered result, there is no fade-in any more -- the clip starts smack bang. This behaviour seems quite unpredictable; most keyframes are processed OK, but especially the ones added later in the project have a tendency to act up. It appears that the trouble started when the user attempted to mute a track from a particular point onward. Instead of a mute from that point, the video track completely disappeared in both the preview and the rendered result, although it remained visible on the timeline.
The project itself is best described as a long music video; the base material is a 30-minute piece of music (WAV format), to which three separate DV video tracks are added. One track in particular contains quite a lot of fades and copy/pasted video fragments, which are processed using a handful of different effects. The hugely frustrating thing is that things only go wrong during rendering, making it practically impossible to complete the project. The preview may look perfect, but only after 90 minutes of rendering can one see whether this is also true for the rendered video file. So far, the result has not been acceptable. And with each failed attempt costing 2 hours (1,5 hours of rendering and 30 minutes of painstakingly checking the result), frustration is mounting ... Anyway, I hope this is still simple user error, or at least something that can be fixed. As always, any help is appreciated.
