OK, one step further at least... cinelerra will not work properly with some a/v data formats. i am not sure i can help you, but i can try asking helpful questions.
so, how do you mean, the clips are "from vob files"? is there audio and video together in the same clip, or is it from different sources? are the clips converted from .vob into something different? if so, what codecs and container formats do you use? have you tried to convert to quicktime dv? that works well, usually...
