Hello Raffaella,
I will increase that number as disc space is no problem these days. The
reason that I thought it was no use changing it was because I lived with
the impression that ALL files were indexed when opening a project, since
the indexing always started with the first piece of footage. But I never
checked if the indexing actually continued until the very last piece, But
I will give it a try. I do have 500 pieces of footage, you know.

I would not know. But I can easily check that. As soon as Cinelerra has
stopped rendering my present project (which will take some 6 hours, I will
look into this.
