-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi Artenaut End of world,
> Behave yourselves. :-D > Why so many cinelerras? Is not a good idea to merge all versions? Indeed, that would be an extremely good idea. Unfortunately this requires an volunteer to do the work of merging. When was Cinelerra-4-HV released? Since then we again and again hear on the mailinglist that it "should" be merged into the Cin-CV-2.1 tree. Now, that's not an herculean task, but it *is* some work. The last merge the community did was for 2.0 -> 2.1. At that time, 2 or 3 devs where working on it to sort out all individual changes (and especially collisions). Obviously, they where using their spare time, so it can't be easily quantised into "man days", but the whole effort lasted about 1-2 months. But that was a different time. Meanwhile, most of the active Cinelerra-CV devs have either retired, working on different projects or focussed on other areas of interest, like the "real life" ;-) Btw, all the special versions you mention (aside from the "stock" versions) stem from some volunteer extensions and started improvements. But, as you noted, the main problem with "behaving ourselves" is that it requires a constant contribution, even when this contribution isn't fun. I am writing here in a slightly ironical tone, btw. Actually this whole situation shows us just that people seem to have not so much spare time to dedicate on a continuous base. Maybe it also shows us, that just keeping Cinelerra up-to-date, in itself doesn't create a strong enough "power field" to attract a host of volunteers ;-) Cheers, Hermann V. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkv6EqcACgkQZbZrB6HelLKYTACeMi3or3luwzJHzvzJn29Bpuh4 SPoAoLM7NYBdfxbvL/JN0Ft6vYL4YdlK =YdK1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Cinelerra mailing list [email protected] https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra
