It only worked for me with a fast quad core processor. Cinelerra does not use GPU video acceleration (VDPAU on Nvidia cards) to play files, so the decoding of the h.264 files has to be done in software. I'm also not sure how multithreaded it is. The first time it falls behind the sound gets out of sync. If it can keep up, it is fine. Somewhere you can look at the frames / second to see if it kept up. Even if they will not play smoothly, I believe they can be rendered to a file that can play using a GPU accelerated Mplayer or other program.
