Hello all. I've recently set up a new computer for video editing and am
excited to learn more about cinelerra. I am having issues with audio/video
sync and am hoping someone might have a lead to the solution. If this
problem is too tricky. I'm happy to try a different distro (is there one
recommended by CInelerra developers?) and reinstall.

Here is the problem.

The playback cursor jumps ahead about 4 seconds when I hit play, and
playback is out of sync with the audio. In the Compositor, if I drag a clip
into the Program window and click on the timeline to set the playback cursor
somewhere, for example at 10s, when I hit play, the playback cursor jumps
ahead about 4 seconds so that the video in the Compositor starts playing
from 14s. The audio seems to still start from 10s. The audio is out of
sync for the remainder of the clip and continues into the first 4 seconds of
the next clip as well.

If I switch the audio driver from ALSA to OSS, the cursor no longer jumps
ahead when I hit play. With OSS, however, I don't hear any sound at all.
(I don't seem to have a /dev/dsp device and /dev/snd/pcmc0d0c and
/dev/snd/pcmc0d0p didn't seem to work.)

For what it's worth, I also tried the Nudge and Audio Offset settings but
they do not seem to fix the issue.

Any ideas?
