Hi!

Just a reminder for the next developer meeting:
April 3rd, at 16.00 UTC.

Since I'm coming home from another city, I might be late.

We will mainly talk about the tasks we set to do last meeting.
They were:

        Problem 1: Versioning confusion.

Proposed solution:
On the cinelerra-CV website to the source of stable releases will be separated from git.
An apt source repo will be created, tagged and updated every 6 months.
Also a snapshot tarball will be available, in synch with the apt repo.
For convenience tags will follow Ubuntu releases, as they can work as a regular deadline.

GIT will be the always growing repo, stable but experimental.
CinCV versioning will still be linked only to enough new features a bug fixes.

hermanr volunteers for setting up the apt-repo.
raffa volunteers for preparing the tarball and updating the site accordingly.

Problem 2: Need for a test suite

Proposed solution:
Start work on a test suite, beginning by looking at Google Test.
hermanr volunteers.

Problem 3: New users need reasonable defaults.

Come up with a list of reasonable defaults:
- PAL or NTSC standard set with country->TVstandard mapping and detection.
- YUVA-color
- play-every-frame disabled,
- ALSA ("stop playback locks up" check box checked)
- xv
- -40.0 to 6.0 for audio fade (till the bug is fixed),
- timeruler of the timeline counting by 2 seconds
- Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames as unit of time in the timeline,
- display text in the resource window folder list (to prevent the media folder not to be shown in small screens)
- duration for still images = 3 sec
- compositor zoom set to "auto"
- 500 index files to keep.

Volunteer: einarR1

        Problem 4: ichthyo patch

That version needs a good testing so to be put in CinCV soon.
Proposed solution :
The repo will be described and made available from the CinCV website, along with the other unstable experimental repos (einar, monty, simAV, ...)

volunteer: raffa

        Problem 5: output formats

There are too many broken output formats.
Waiting for them to be fixed, einarR1 had the idea to add to preferences a flag 'show advanced codecs', off by default. This leads to the problem of how to find out what works and what "it works" mean. It is theme for research.
