Hi Cinelerra devs,

as you probably know, several years ago I wrote a (rather massive) patch to
improve various aspects of Cinelerra's fader/camera/projector automation curves
("rubber band", bezier function). I am using this patch heavily since then
(2006) all the time, and can't even imagine working in Cinelerra without it.

So basically I still think that Cinelerra-CV would benefit from including it.
The time I wrote this patch, there was some concern regarding "mergeability"
with the HV-Versions; Pierre Dumuid did then a (partial) review, which led
to some code style clean-up, and to quit vivid discussions about building in
several additional features; but unfortunately in the end this effort just
stalled. Pierre had to concentrate on his Thesis, and I engaged in several
(fruitless) efforts to fix the strange behaviour of the transitions and
to allow more flexible inclusion of plugins within the engine. Which
finally led into the "Cinelerra-3" initiative, meanwhile turned
into the Lumiera project.

The last days, I went (again) through the ordeal of compiling Cinelerra;
Previously, I had upgraded my PC to Debian/Squeeze and ran right into all
of the mess with the various FFmpeg / libAV versions.
In the end, I succeedded with backporting the Cinelerra-Package from
Christian Marillat (Debian-Multimedia), but I switched to the internal
FFmpeg and linked that statically.
What a slaughter.

Anyway, my Patch still applies clean to the official CV trunk.
I reordered the change-sets into 8 consolidated commits.
For your convenience, you may pull this rebased version from:

git://github.com/Ichthyostega/Cinelerra.git   (branch: bezier_patch)

https://github.com/Ichthyostega/Cinelerra/tree/bezier_patch (web-frontend)

The documentation of the patch is still at
http://ichthyostega.de/cinelerra/bezier-patch/

(I couldn't yet find the time to update the packages provided there)

Maybe this never ending story leads to a happy end finally;
I'd be glad just to use plain official versions of cinelerra-CV again
for my everyday work ;-)

Cheers,
Hermann Vosseler
(aka "Ichthyo")
