Thanks all for the responses on this. I ran through "Grandma's Tutorial" and found it to be awesome. The other site I found to be pretty good is here...
http://renomath.org/video/linux/avchd/ It gives a workflow example on how to edit video. I'll also search around the mailing list here on how to do a render farm. I still have to experiment with real videos and get use to cinelerra, before I would want to invest the money in one.
