Might need a bit more information:What container, codec, size (PAL, 720p, 1080i?) is your input, and does you project settings match your input? And any of the error messages might be useful.A ten second render without any effects should be quite quick. Cinelerra does (seem to) operate best with quicktime container, although not all codecs are supported. David

I am not a software developer, so I hope I am using this list appropriately. I am just started learning to use Cinelerra (version 2.2CV on Ubuntu 10.04). I have been using Openshot for some time. I tried rendering a 10 second test clip in several formats. The only one that worked was OGG. The others failed in various ways. In some cases there was an error message. In other cases, the file just wouldn't play. Sometimes, but not always, the file was clearly too small to be correct Do you have any ideas? A few other observations to point out: (1) For all formats that I've tried, whether successful or not, it took 10 or 20 minutes to render a 10 second clip with no real editing. (2) The formats that I was using in Openshot do not seem to be available in Cinelerra. Is this a setup problem or is it inherent in Cinelerra? (3) Error messages pop up periodically during both editing and rendering but with no obvious consequences. (Sorry, I did not think to copy them.) How should interpret them? Thanks.
