Hi Not a Cinelerra user quite yet, still in the progress of converting quite a bit of video from the infamous AIC...
But I'm an acoustician and I wonder if the answer to question 3, at least for the audio part, is because the graphics are using linear level rather than logarithmic. The result would be a logarithmic curve for a straight logarithmic decay. Providing the option of using logarithmic decay would be quite simple, just plot 20log(L) instead of L.
