nothing is returned with lsmod, but with lspci I get:

bod@video:~$ lspci | grep 1394
08:00.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): LSI Corporation FW322/323 (rev 04)
08:06.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB23 IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link)

cheers

Thanks David

I am after the firewire stack used by IIDC industrial cameras

Any chance you can list any 1394 modules ?
# lsmod | grep 1394

The result will help a lot

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and firewire works fine. linux kernel is
3.2.0-21-generic (64bit).

But with 12.10 about to be released, maybe something will break.
What kernel are you running?

Hi all

The latest version of opensuse : 3.4.6-2.10-desktop for me

is dumping the ieee1394 and other 1394 modules. They also decided that
libdc1394 was deprecated.
They changed everything for a new firewire stack that does not work for
me..

Do you know a bit more about the kernel evolution re the firewire? or
any distribution with a recent kernel that is still using 1394 modules

Cheers
E
