Hello,
really appreciate your input on this. It finally worked, could not test all
the options earlier as it is a live network, had to wait for the network to
be asleep. This is what did it:-

Speed nonegotiate
Switchport nonegotiate

Once again, I really appreciate all your help. I believe that this thread is
now closed...for now. For me its the beginning of a very interesting
project.
