The "bandwidth" command in IOS doesn't actually change the bandwidth of an interface -- it's used by other higher layer processes like routing protocols, queueing etc. For example, you might have an Ethernet port with an access speed of 100Mbps, but your upstream is policing on ingress to 35Mbps. In this case, specifying "bandwidth 35000" would likely help other IOS subsystems make proper decisions. On Ethernet interfaces, it's the "speed" interface command that changes the interface speed (10Mbps, 100Mbps, 1Gbps, 10Gbps etc.) To set duplex, it's the "duplex" command (auto, half, full). CatOS is a L2 switching operating system - no L3 support - and therefore does not have an interface command equivalent to "bandwidth". Routing on CatOS-based systems is handled by a separate module, which, not surprisingly, runs IOS.
