If you are doing SNMP management, and have a DB of all IPs and
SNMP-Communities, you could hack a little script to query the serial#
via SNMP ... e.g.:
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.47.1.1.1.1.11.1
is the serial# for an 800 series router ... of course, this will only
cover the base system in the case of modular routers ... not sure if/how
you could query modules inserted into those ...
