The old 3550G-12 still has no (affordable) alternative. There is the 3750G-12S but it's incredibly expensive. There is a 24-port 100FX aggregator in the mix somewhere (may be a ME model though). There is also the 10xX2 10-gig one but it is apparently forged from gold and diamonds, not counting optics.
A plain old 3560X-type with 10/12 SFPs and 10G uplinks would be great, or even an upgraded/supported 3550G-12 equivalent. If 3550G-12s would do src/dst-IP and/or port etherchannel load-balance, they'd still be a perfect little aggregation switch.
