Hi,

Looking at the release notes for 12.2(33)SXI5 I've noticed that "Vlan Translation" is listed as a software restriction on the ME6524 platform.

Does anyone know if this is likely to be ever resolved (noting it's listed as a 'software' restriction and not 'hardware') ?

Short of crossconnecting two access ports on the switch back-to-back, are there any other ways of working around this restriction?

I had ideas about using a bridge-group and two subinterfaces on one of our 7200s as a temporary workaround but because they are MPLS enabled, IOS on those tells me that IRB/bridging is not supported when MPLS is enabled on the chassis. Another workaround I'm pondering is if there is a way to use MPLS to "transport" the traffic at layer 2 and drop it back out of MPLS into another VLAN, but I haven't worked out if or how to do that just yet (or if I need to).

Annoyingly enough, Feature Navigator states that this feature is supported on the ME6524 hardware and software so it's a little disconcerting to drill down deeper into release notes and find out that maybe it's not actually a goer afterall.

Bug toolkit also yields nothing...

Thanks,
Reuben
