Hi all, Sorry for the delay in my response and thank you for your suggestions, some interesting points have been made.
OK, so now lets say you have a 24 x 100Mb port switch at the access layer and you have an EtherChannel over ports 23 + 24 to give 200 Mbps up to the distribution layer, how can you test that each end device is capable of pushing the 200Mbs over the EtherChannel? Yes I could wait for a busy period and see if the port channel bandwidth exceeds 200Mbps but thats no good if there is a problem and the EtherChannel is configured incorrectly or the switches can't perform and you start to drop traffic/queue it up or whatever. Without getting another laptop and running some traffic generating software on them both; I can't see any other way.
