Yes, by first hand experience here lately I can tell you MTU does definitely
matter.

Regardless of the interface-type - l2, l3, SVI or tunnel MTU size
does-matter.
All the more so on L2 ints because fragmentation doensn't happen at l2.

spewing VLAN'd traffic to another router or switch (which
then does certain things with that VLAN'd traffic), does the
MTU size on that interface really matter?
(Or does it matter only on L3 interfaces that have IP
