I can't seem to find any information on what the ASA "tests" when it's
configured for failover configuration and it detects a problem. This
is the log entry I am talking about.

%ASA-1-105008 (Primary) Testing Interface outside
%ASA-1-105009 (Primary) Testing on interface outside Failed

I have a pair that one side tests ok and the other doesn't
occasionally. So, what exactly does the ASA do during testing?
Knowing this will greatly help with troubleshooting the problem I am
having.

And what about this?

%ASA-1-105003 (Primary) Monitoring on interface outside waiting
%ASA-1-105004 (Primary) Monitoring on interface outside normal

What exactly is it monitoring and what makes it "normal"?

Thanks!
