And before you decide to upgrade and learn the hard way, most modules transfer 
directly
from a legacy chassis to an -E chassis EXCEPT THE FAN TRAY.

(Been there, done that, eventually got the proper trays and finished the 
upgrades...)

There were also some 6500 "package specials" with their own part numbers that 
were
discontinued before the chassis EOS/EOL.  If you have one of these, all of your
components are still supported but the "package" technically is not...  ran 
into some
issues with TAC trying to open a case on one of these :(
