seems like a poor trade-off to me.  You play the cost of vendor tie-in and
the support / expense cost of exotic optics against the cost of running new
SMF and dispensing with all these requirements forever more.  Then again if
you're enterprise, you've probably also been suckered into running eigrp,
<giggle>.

It is a very poor trade off.

FWIW we buy the X2-SFP+ converters for all X2 ports now, 6500 and N7k. They work fine, and are cheap enough to not worry about.
