Are you running IPBase on your CE by any chance? PIM sparse-dense mode need at least IPServices on a 3x50 if I remember correctly (the switch will take the commands but you'll see no multicast traffic). There is a work around using PIM stub and manually announcing a bsr & rp candidate ( https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2153703) which I had to use recently.
