The 6500 has a global pool of ~4096 vlans. Every time you configure a routed port that doesn't have a vlan associated, it would still consume an internal vlan.
If you configure the same vlan on multiple ports, they would be bridged together... Not sure how that interacts with the xconnect... It might actually let you do that.
