Do you see a calling party number being presented on the gateway when these
calls come in? If it is a PRI, use debug isdn q931.

Message-ID: <[email protected]>

I'm a first-timer when it comes to installing ICM/UCCE 9. I've installed
Windows 2008 R2 x64 Enterprise, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise along
with SP1, and .NET 4. When running the UCCE setup I receive the message "SEVERE
- SQL Server Edition check failed." Has anyone encountered this? I verified
the SQL service is running and I've launched MS SQL Server Management Studio on
the server and successfully see SQL Server is healthy. Thanks.

Mark,

I've seen this exact error if the domain controller was not available.

I was able to resolve the issue by choosing a custom Collation during the SQL
install rather than the default (SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS is default and
will not work). I'm not sure how often this issue pops up, but I couldn't find
any Cisco docs that mention it during the install and I followed everything
according to the UCCE install guide.

Hey Ryan,

Finally got into the ssh of the unit with the debug/cisco123. I have
cisco backbone on this as well, they are trying to replicate my issue
but are running into some of the same obstacles that I have.

They have my logs and there seems to be some issue with the version of
firmware that the system is looking for. Seems the Java methods are
spitting back my version for some reason, but the only version
available it sip8831.9-3-3-5.

I will keep you updated.

Bryant

Wondering if any of the Cisco guys could shed some light on a situation?

Guys on my team, non CCIE, non Partner, are getting thrid party 'engineers'
when they open TAC cases and very poor service. Is this the norm now?
When I open a case I get a 15 - 20 minute response time even on sev. 4
cases.

It's kind of goofy that in order to get a deccent TAC engineer I would have
to open all of the cases and hand them off.

Thanks!

Basic troubleshooting makes me wonder what is different about you from the rest
of your team?
Here's the answer.
http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/certifications/expert/program/index.html
Technical Service Requests (Case Routing)

Service requests made to Cisco Technical Support (TS) by CCIEs in good
standing, on behalf of an organization with a valid support contract, will be
routed directly to the more experienced core TS support engineers. Routing is
done automatically based on Cisco User ID; no special phone number or URL is
required. For more information, contact Cisco Technical
Support<http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/687/Directory/DirTAC.shtml>.

I'd love to hear the other (non Cisco) folks chime in on whether this applies
to cases the CCIE works directly or opens and then hands off to a (non-CCIE)
colleague.

Erick,

I have received similar situations depending on the team I need to reach.
Typically I know this happens when the engineer has issues with using the mute
button due to the engineer talking to another person in the background.

I always get the backbone team when I open a case (I'm a CCIE in good standing
). If one of my customers opens a case they must have it re queued to get to a
more experienced engineer, but it all depends on the nature of the issue. The
backbone team shouldn't be taking cases for issues like phone provisioning
etc..

Erick,

We see very good performance, feedback, and stats from our partners. If there
are specific concerns we'd really like to know.

Regarding opening a case and handing it off - how do you feel that plays out?
For us it means we assume and approach CCIE caliber expertise and
communication. We've seen some instances where non-CCIE's don't really speak
the lingo and friction ensues.
