I think they're just for Jabber at this point. I could see it being an option in the future but everyone would have to worry about handing out the right domain name to their IP phones for it to work. Just easier to pass along option 150 in DHCP I think.
Jabber is an exception since it usually runs on the data VLAN where most people don't want to add option 150.
