Aha! Another document to read! Thanks for sharing.
I think this is the one our Cisco account team referred us to when we said we don't have split DNS. Basically, it talks about configuring your edge firewall to filter out (deny) anyone from off-campus to query the cisco-uds and cuplogin SRV records. --- Lelio Fulgenzi, B.A. Senior Analyst, Network Infrastructure Computing and Communications Services (CCS) University of Guelph 519‐824‐4120 Ext 56354 [email protected] www.uoguelph.ca/ccs Room 037, Animal Science and Nutrition Building Guelph, Ontario, N1G 2W1 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith Croft" <[email protected]> To: "Lelio Fulgenzi" <[email protected]>, "Brian Meade" <[email protected]> Cc: "cisco-voip voyp list" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 22, 2015 3:13:47 PM Subject: RE: [cisco-voip] Jabber SRV records Here is an excellent read. http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Borderless_Networks/Unified_Access/BYOD_Design_Guide/BYOD_CollabEdge.html -Keith From: cisco-voip [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lelio Fulgenzi Sent: Friday, May 22, 2015 12:14 PM To: Brian Meade Cc: cisco-voip voyp list Subject: Re: [cisco-voip] Jabber SRV records Thanks Brian. We're doing phone only for now. I will be deploying v9.x of IM&P next and then integrating accordingly. And adding the appropriate SRV records for that. --- Lelio Fulgenzi, B.A. Senior Analyst, Network Infrastructure Computing and Communications Services (CCS) University of Guelph 519 ‐ 824 ‐ 4120 Ext 56354 [email protected] www.uoguelph.ca/ccs Room 037, Animal Science and Nutrition Building Guelph, Ontario, N1G 2W1 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Meade" < [email protected] > To: "Lelio Fulgenzi" < [email protected] > Cc: "cisco-voip voyp list" < [email protected] > Sent: Friday, May 22, 2015 12:41:18 PM Subject: Re: [cisco-voip] Jabber SRV records Lelio, I give highest priority to subscriber nodes but it's up to you which servers you want to throw the extra UDS load on. The mydomain.acme.com like you wrote should be fine. It doesn't matter that the domain of the servers is different. If you're on 10.5 IM&P, make sure you add mydomain.acme.com as a presence domain and make it the default. If you're doing any other version, make sure to change your presence domain to that. Changing presence domains on older versions didn't always work right, though. It's not really clear in the documentation what I should use for the _cisco-uds SRV records. Should I use the publisher? the TFTP server? the subscribers that the jabber clients will connect to? Also, I want to use a different domain in the event we use cloud webex. So, in mycase, I want to use mydomain.acme.com rather than acme.com . My actual servers are in yet a different subdomain. So, would this make sense? _cisco-uds._ tcp.mydomain.acme.com SRV service location: priority = 1 weight = 5 port = 8443 svr hostname = cucmnode1.subdom.acme.com --- Lelio Fulgenzi, B.A. Senior Analyst, Network Infrastructure Computing and Communications Services (CCS) University of Guelph 519 ‐ 824 ‐ 4120 Ext 56354 [email protected] www.uoguelph.ca/ccs Room 037, Animal Science and Nutrition Building Guelph, Ontario, N1G 2W1 _______________________________________________ cisco-voip mailing list [email protected] https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/cisco-voip
