I saw a thing on CNN a while back that Boeing has done that with its
documentation for aircraft wiring--it *significantly* cut down the time
required to set up all the connections (and they mentioned the number of
miles of wiring in a 747, along with hundreds, if not thousands, of
connections to make). The electrician has a device hanging from his belt
that accesses the docs, a thin cable connects to a pair of glasses with a
HUD. Not only did installation time drop drastically from not having to go
back and forth to large paper docs, but the error rate fell sharply, too.
