Let me just put some ice on this swelling big head of mine..
But I am neither CCIE or networking engineer
But I am senior as to a 48 year old , HEH
Having much respect for the many engineers who brains I pick on a regular
basis.
Mind you I had a TAC CCNP on the fone and taught him a trick or two.
( kinda no brainer had to talk to netopia router didn't know what the IP
addy was. had a sneaky suspicion it was the default gateway i was given.)
Rather than setup my laptop to get into the network i just had the TAC dude
ping the DG then powered the box down.
Had him ping again Voila timed out . TADA)
i don't think the title of networking engineer is fitting.
A senior funny networking technician I will accept. HEH
I know the minute I post this the world will go to heck but here goes...
I think i am at that point where I do what I want to do..
Come the weekends i spend both days slumming at a local beach club ..
And when i get bored looking at the local talent ( shhhh the wifes
asleep )
I have a couple of boxes I can log into and play with or as lately I have
been writing some courseware.
I take a nice 40 minute stroll along the beach each day and that is a nice
time to defrag the brain.
Right now i start work around 11 an and finish around 7 pm..
So i get to see the kids for a while in the morning..
Come september all things being equal I will be doing training which is
working 14 days straight then 14 days off.
So YES for me i am getting closer to my goals ..
there may be the odd month where there is no work so I get a month off
.( I doubt it tho) sigh
So it should all pan out..
Sure it's little rough on the wife but she understands and we plan to do
some serious traveling in the spring and summer next year..
By sep next year i will be board management which will mean less work and
more money..
Which means I can work out a laptop and VOIP/Cell fone.. COOL
But i like to get the kids involved in the network at home the 7 yro
loaded and runs win2k on his desktop.
the 15 YRO is getting an old compaq 6500 dual 133 hehe but it has SCSI
and 20 gig of hd's and he has to get is running on NT and setup the
network.
Then he has to run the cable between all the machines and I will set it
all up under a PIX box and they can pound on the dsl..
i teach them both binary and slowly a little tech support as I got to their
machines and mess them up a little now and then.
So that makes it fun as they are an integral part of the network..
But if you do this folks do it at their speed
TIP
But who know thats whats in the works but the only thing in life that is
consistent is change.
So we shall see

\\ PS you did not give me your address to mail the bribe too hahahaha
Hi Oz,
Seriously, as a CCIE or Senior networking engineer do you have time to enjoy
your family and things that you like to do ?
