I'm not sure the poster wanted the techie description of how to do it but
rather "just what is it"?
A "Terminal Server" is a device that let's "terminals" connect to the
network. Usually terminals are attached through async serial lines.
A terminal attached by a serial line would telnet out to wherever he wants
to go on the ethernet/tokenring network. (or ftp or what have you)
This "could" be thought of as "forward telnet" but I don't want to be flamed
for that one :-)
It is the "normal" way of things.
Now reverse telnet is, well the reverse............. the client comes into
the terminal server from the network (ethernet/tokenring) and then is able
to connect to a device on one of the serial lines.
In labs we normally connect the lines to the console ports of other devices.
Hope this is what you need.
