Interesting. I will ask around work.

It was my understanding that only the Altiga client worked with the Altiga
box. On the other hand, if it is standards based, who knows?

As to the source of the problem, it may or not be Cisco's. For example, when
you say that it works with ISP X but not with ISP Y, what are the two doing
differently? For example, I have heard of severe problems with ISP's who use
PPPoE. That's with everyone's' IPSec client, not just Cisco. For example,
Checkpoint makes it quite clear that at this point in time, their own VPN
client will not function over a PPPoE connection to an ISP. Which is a
bummer, because my employer likes to sell Checkpoint solutions to a certain
segment of our client base, but the ISP subsidiary runs PPPoE.

So, to put it mildly, one cannot merely assume that the problem is this or
that. It may be the result of multiple factors. In troubleshooting, one must
lay out where the problems occur and don't occur, and then seek out answers
based on the differences.

Subject: Altiga/VPN guru's

Group,

There has to be someone out there having the same problems with the Altiga
client that I have seen. I have found that the Altiga client only works
with a limited number of ISP's such as Mindspring, Earthlink, etc. However,
any obscure or off the beaten path type of connection, the client will time
out. My questions:

1. Is there a work around, or a newer release of the client revision that
corrects these problems?

2. What other clients (using IPSec) has anyone tested with the Altiga VPN
concentrator?

Your comments are appreciated, thanks in advance.

Chris
